Miller blades: When designing the Miller blades, we had to make sure that the parts would be strong enough not to break during operation. We used FEM analysis to simulate the use of the product and modified the geometry based on the analysis. The other requirement was that it carry light from the source all the way to the tip of the product, thus getting enough light to the target in the back of the throat. The parts also needed to fit onto the existing handle without modifying the handle. I did the Industrial Design, Project Management, Client Liaison, and Supplier Liaison on this Project while working at Skeg.

Modifications: With the addition of the capacitive sense switch the unit switches on when it is picked up and then off again when it is put down. With the introduction of the LED light source the cavity for the spare bulb could be removed.
